
Often described as San Diego's "Crown Jewel," Balboa Park serves as the Del
Prado's front yard. Balboa Park hosts the city's most important museums, the
famous Old Globe Theatre complex, the world renowned San Diego Zoo and
dozens of outdoor entertainment and sport venues.
Along 7th Street, bordering the Del Prado's east side, are a collection of
some of America's most beautiful historic homes, each designed by a well
know architects. Directly across 7th Street, stands the magnificent Marston
House. Built as a home for one of the city's great benefactors, the Marston
House is now a public museum.
The Del Prado is located in the vibrant community of Hillcrest with it's
many popular shops, restaurants, clubs and entertainment venues all within
walking distance.
The adjoining communities and destinations are a great asset to the Del
Prado. Blocks to the West, dotted with beautiful Victorian, Spanish and
Craftsmen homes is the historic community of Bankers Hill, . Beyond Bankers
Hill and minutes away are the San Diego Airport, the San Diego Harbor, North
Island, Point Loma and Ocean Beach. Moments to the South are The East
Village, the Famous Gaslamp District and Downtown San Diego. The popular
neighborhoods of North Park and South Park are just across the park to the
East, and the upscale malls of Mission Valley are a very quick trip to the
North.
